CSD isDesign Center
The isDesign platform is currently being built. This is some of what has been designed so far…

Problem:
isDesign Center is a Project Management platform CSD provides to its clients to keep track of projects and to house important project information. CSD clients us the platform to access all their current, pending, and past projects. They also use it to connect the builders, designers, and suppliers on one platform so the team can stay on the same page.
CSD is in the process of moving their whole data base over to the Cloud and need to design the new project management platform. This platform needs to house a large amount of information while being easy to navigate.
CSD clients access this platform from their computers at their office, tablets on the work site, on their cell phones with sub contractors, all over the place. They needed to be able to access the platform from any device.
Solution:
To address inconsistencies throughout the platform I created a Design System for developers
With the large amount of information each project holds I designed multiple tabs to store and easily access project information
To allow users to easily and quickly navigate between projects I provided a side menu
Research
Through an in depth heuristic evaluation I was able to identify some successes and violations of the previous version of the platform that I could use in the design of the new one.
What I Learned…
1) There was a lack of consistent UI throughout the whole platform.
No standardized typography, font, icons and sizing
Padding and alignment issues throughout the platform
No universal sizing for inputs
2) The platform houses a vast amount of information for each project and some clients have upwards of 50 projects. They need an easy way to access and navigate between projects and project information.
3) There is no responsive design on the current platform and can only easily be viewed on a desktop.
Design Solution
Users need access to lots of information and it can be overwhelming at times. My solutions was to create a popup that houses all the information for each specific project. Within that popup I housed the overview, special instructions, notes, revisions, elevations and any attachments that project has. I allowed padding on the left so users still have access to their different projects and are able to toggle between projects with the popup open.
For the project Queue page my focus was on providing the user with as much information as possible without feeling overwhelmed. I provided multiple ways to filter and search for specific projects so the user can easily find specific projects. The layout is similar to spreadsheets that the clients work with on a daily basis providing familiarity when using the platform.
Users also have the icon menu on the left hand side that allows the user quick access to create a new project, there que, pending projects, reports, account settings, ect. The user is also able to click on the options in the Header to access those categories that way if they like. Finally they can hit the hamburger menu and get a larger popup of the icon menu. This allows users to easily access this information through multiple avenues.
Design System:
I was able to create a universal set of components to be used across the entirety of the platform. This allowed for consistency throughout the platform. This improves the user experience by providing consistency, familiarity, and accessibility at every touchpoint.
